מִסְחֲתָא

מִסְחֲתָא, מְסַחְתָּאf (נְסַח) 1) = מְסָחָא balance, pair of scales. Targ. Ps. 62:10.Pl. מִסְחָאתָא. Targ. Job 6:2 ed. Lag. (ed. Wil. מְסַחְתָּא). Ib. 31:6 מסאחתא Ms. (corr. acc.; ed. מְשַׁחְתָּא). Targ. Y. Deut. 25:15 (not מִסְחַאֲ׳). 2) weighing counter, esp. butchers stall. Ḥull.132b קבע מ׳ he put up a permanent stall for selling meat. Shebu.42a איתיבת אמ׳וכ׳ you sat by the stall and took your (advanced) money as the meat was being sold. B.
