מִסְחֲתָא, מְסַחְתָּאf (נְסַח) 1) = מְסָחָא balance, pair of scales. Targ. Ps. 62:10.Pl. מִסְחָאתָא. Targ. Job 6:2 ed. Lag. (ed. Wil. מְסַחְתָּא). Ib. 31:6 מסאחתא Ms. (corr. acc.; ed. מְשַׁחְתָּא). Targ. Y. Deut. 25:15 (not מִסְחַאֲ׳). 2) weighing counter, esp. butchers stall. Ḥull.132b קבע מ׳ he put up a permanent stall for selling meat. Shebu.42a איתיבת אמ׳וכ׳ you sat by the stall and took your (advanced) money as the meat was being sold. B. Kam.23b תיב אמ׳וכ׳ (sell your animal to the butcher, and) sit by the stall and get your money (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note); a. e.
